About the Co op
The Artist Bear Co-operative is run by bear artists for bear artists,
and gives us a much needed outlet that does not price our bears out of
the market. The artists set the price of the bear and then receive 100%
of the retail price. The fact that our co-operative has no mark up on
artist bears is a great attraction to people all over the country and
in some cases even further afield.
The co-operative is situated in the middle of the main High
Street through Lyme Regis, one of the prettiest seaside towns in the
country. It has been awarded National Heritage status due to its
Jurassic coast. This means more visitors, more families and more people
buying your bears. Another big attraction to the co-operative is the
fact that Russ Berrie’s range of bears, ‘Alice’s Bear Shop’, was
designed by Rikey and Jo at the shop. The Alice’s Bear Shop books are
based on the teddy bear hospital at the shop. How wonderful to be able
to visit the real Alice’s Bear Shop!
We are open seven days a week apart from a short
break after Christmas, 10 am until 5 pm, to maximise the selling
potential of our bears.
We sell bear making supplies with a 10% discount to
co-operative members. We have a huge range of glass eyes in a large
range of colours in sizes 4-14mm. We also re-sell any good quality
bear making supplies that you may no longer need.
We are always interested
in having new members join and it’s very simple to do so. All you need
to do is send your labelled, priced bears with your first months rent
and your name, address and telephone number. There is no contract to
sign, or a minimum period - you remain in control of your stock at all
times.
