At Alice’s Bear Shop we offer bear making classes to suit your
needs, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, for people aged 12 and
over.
From day-long intensive courses (eight hours
approximately) to hourly sessions at your convenience, you’ll learn
everything from marking out and cutting the fabric to sewing the final
seam. With a maximum of four people per course you’ll receive all the
help you need when you need it. All materials are supplied – all you
need to bring is yourself.
In the very place where the Alice’s Bear Shop
range was first created, you will learn how to make an eight inch,
fully jointed, mohair bear. Basic sewing ability is preferred (running
stitch, back stitch, over stitch) or add an extra half an hour to the
course for sewing tuition. (Please ask for sewing tuition when
booking).
An intensive day-long course costs £95, a £10
deposit is required when booking and a light lunch together with tea
and coffee is provided. You are guaranteed to have your bear finished
at the end of the day.
If you find a the prospect of a whole day's
bearmaking a little daunting, we can tailor your course to suit your
needs. Breaking the course down into 2 or sometimes 3 sessions can
allow sore fingers to heal! Please call us to arrange your course.
